ATC Joint Development Programme
Test ATC on a substantial body of real work. Contribute to its continued development. Receive two months of complimentary licensed access.
The Analysis Typology Coder is developed through continuous methodological, technical and real-world testing. Alongside our internal calibration and validation, the ATC Joint Development Programme enables selected individual and institutional users to contribute to this process by testing ATC systematically across a larger body of expert analytical or scholarly work.
Every ATC installation already includes 10 free EAA assessments and 10 free AMD assessments, allowing you to explore either module—or both—before purchasing a licence. Users who wish to go further may apply to participate in the Joint Development Programme and undertake a structured larger-batch test in return for a complimentary two-month licence.
How It Works
Approved participants complete:
20 expert analytical outputs with EAA to receive a two-month EAA licence;
20 academic manuscripts or scholarly texts with AMD to receive a two-month AMD licence; or
20 EAA sources and 20 AMD sources to receive a two-month combined EAA + AMD licence.
Assessments already completed as part of your initial 10-assessment free trial may count towards the required batch where they are suitable for the structured test. Once your participation has been approved, Analysis Excellence will provide the additional testing access required to complete the agreed batch.
Each individual or institutional participant may join the Joint Development Programme only once. Testing both modules within one approved participation still counts as a single participation.
What We Ask You to Test
The purpose is not simply to establish whether ATC runs successfully. We are interested in how the software performs when it is used repeatedly on the kinds of analytical or scholarly material for which it is designed.
Testing therefore covers the overall experience of using ATC, including:
installation, activation and licence behaviour;
handling and processing of different sources;
technical stability and performance;
clarity and efficiency of the assessment workflow;
usability of the interface and guidance;
plausibility, clarity and usefulness of diagnostic results;
consistency and differentiation across a larger batch of sources;
the usefulness of accumulated results for development, comparison and Analytical Quality Management; and
reporting, export and other aspects of repeated practical use.

Your Test Batch
A useful test should reflect the material on which you would realistically use ATC rather than a collection selected only because it is unusually strong, weak or difficult.
For EAA, this may include policy analysis, think-tank publications, analytical commentary, political or strategic analysis, risk analysis, expert essays and comparable professional analytical outputs.
For AMD, this may include article manuscripts, research papers, working papers, book chapters and other substantive scholarly work.
Where possible, the 20-source batch should contain meaningful variation in such characteristics as source type, length, author, subject, publication stream, research approach or stage of development.
Participants remain responsible for ensuring that they are entitled to process the material they select.
Written Feedback
Participation requires substantive written feedback after the test. We are interested in both what worked well and what could be improved.
Your feedback should address your overall experience with the module, technical reliability, usability and workflow, the quality and usefulness of diagnostic results, consistency across the batch, and the improvements you consider most important. We also ask for specific observations from selected individual cases so that broader comments can be understood in relation to actual use.
Screenshots may be attached where useful but are not required. Written descriptions are sufficient, provided they explain the observation clearly. Confidential sources can be referred to through anonymised case identifiers; you do not normally need to send the underlying documents to Analysis Excellence.
Critical feedback is explicitly welcome. The complimentary licence is awarded for complete, good-faith testing and substantive feedback, not for providing a positive assessment of ATC.

Download and install ATC on the computer you intend to use for testing.
Explore the relevant EAA or AMD module—or both—using the free trial allowance.
Carefully read the relevant user and methodological guides embedded within ATC before beginning your assessments, as these explain how the modules should be used and how their results should be interpreted.

Make sure that you can assemble a suitable batch of 20 unique sources for each module you intend to test.
Please note that Analysis Excellence does not provide AI API access, API credits or associated AI usage costs. Participants are responsible for arranging their own AI access, either by obtaining and funding a compatible API key themselves or by using a supported free local AI option.
Please do not begin the formal 20-source test simply because you have submitted an application. The structured test begins only after you have received confirmation of acceptance from Analysis Excellence.
Participation Is Selective
Submitting the form below constitutes an application to participate and does not guarantee acceptance.
Applications are reviewed individually. We may limit participation according to current programme capacity, the suitability and diversity of the proposed testing context, the type of material the applicant intends to assess and whether the applicant has participated previously.
If accepted, you will receive confirmation together with the information required to proceed with the structured test.
What You Receive After Completion
Once the required batch and written feedback have been completed and confirmed, you will receive a complimentary two-month single-computer licence for the module tested.
EAA test → two months of EAA
AMD test → two months of AMD
EAA + AMD test → two months of the complete EAA + AMD licence
The complimentary period gives you the opportunity to continue using ATC independently after the structured testing exercise and apply it to further analytical or scholarly work.
